I hear people repeatedly say they want to start a business as a Virtual As=
sistant because they want =E2=80=9Ctime freedom.=E2=80=9D This concerns me=
=2E

For most people=2C time freedom means having the ability to choose when an=
d how you want to work=2C without being restricted by a schedule.

In my 14 successful years as a Virtual Assistant=2C I have never experienc=
ed time freedom. I have deadlines to meet and meetings to attend. I must a=
lso schedule time at my desk to bill the necessary hours to hit my revenue=
 goals.

What I have=2C instead is time flexibility. I can work only in the morning=
s or just in the afternoons. I can work only on Monday=2C Wednesday=2C and=
 Friday. I can work just 30 hours a week.

But here=E2=80=99s the deal: To navigate time flexibility=2C you need to p=
lan and you need to prioritize how you spend your time. If you don=E2=80=
=99t have all the billable client hours you want=2C you need to make sure=
 you=E2=80=99re at your desk working on that.

This is not a build it and they will come situation.

When I started RocketGirl Solutions in 2010=2C I worked full-time even bef=
ore I had clients. I spent my time networking=2C building my website=2C wr=
iting email newsletters=2C and practicing talking about my work with other=
s so I would get referrals.

I wrote down my goal to reach $100=2C000 of billable time a year and creat=
ed a written plan to achieve it. I reviewed my plan daily and made sure I=
 was investing my time in activities aligned with my goal. I set deadlines=
 and kept my word to myself to meet them.

You can do the same.
1. Your calendar is your friend. Schedule what=E2=80=99s important first:=
 time to eat=2C time with family and friends=2C time for exercise. Then=2C=
 schedule time for work. Be sure to include enough hours to reach your goa=
ls. When you=E2=80=99re deliberate with your time=2C you can make the most=
 of time flexibility.

2. Put yourself first. It's easy to move yourself to the back of the line=
 and prioritize everyone else in your life. Don=E2=80=99t do that; you=E2=
=80=99ll spin your wheels and get frustrated. You can=E2=80=99t truly help=
 anyone until you=E2=80=99re taking care of yourself. When your business i=
s thriving=2C you=E2=80=99ll have the luxury of being generous to others b=
y providing for your family=2C treating your friends to lunch=2C and contr=
ibuting to the charities you believe in.

Time flexibility is incredible when you understand how it works. Stay grou=
nded in the benefits of being a Virtual Assistant to make the most of this=
 amazing lifestyle.

<strong>What I have=2C instead is time <em>flexibility</em>. </strong>I ca=
n work only in the mornings or just in the afternoons. I can work only on=
 Monday=2C Wednesday=2C and Friday. I can work just 30 hours a week.<br>
<br>
<strong>But here=E2=80=99s the deal: To navigate time flexibility=2C you n=
eed to plan and you need to prioritize how you spend your time. If you don=
=E2=80=99t have all the billable client hours you want=2C you need to make=
 sure you=E2=80=99re at your desk working on <em>that</em>.</strong><br>
<br>
This is not a build it and they will come situation.<br>
<br>
When I started RocketGirl Solutions in 2010=2C I worked full-time even bef=
ore I had clients. I spent my time networking=2C building my website=2C wr=
iting email newsletters=2C and practicing talking about my work with other=
s so I would get referrals.<br>
<br>
<strong>I wrote down my goal to reach $100=2C000 of billable time a year</=
strong> and created a written plan to achieve it. I reviewed my plan daily=
 and made sure I was investing my time in activities aligned with my goal.=
 I set deadlines and kept my word to myself to meet them.<br>

<strong>You can do the same.</strong></p>
