People create many beliefs about how the world works. These beliefs start=
 as thoughts we decide to incorporate into our daily lives as facts.

Some of our beliefs were created as children=2C others we adopted as adult=
s.

I think of them as keys or legends on the roadmap of life because beliefs=
 make navigating life feel safer and more predictable.

But beliefs can work against us as well. A belief that was helpful in a di=
fferent season of our lives might prevent us from being successful Virtual=
 Assistants now.

Here are a few examples:

Some Virtual Assistants believe the amount they can charge for their work=
 depends on the client's budget. That belief seems logical if you=E2=80=99=
ve been around industries where negotiation is a normal part of client rel=
ationships.

However=2C as a Virtual Assistant=2C how much the client can afford doesn=
=E2=80=99t affect what we charge. We decide our hourly rate before we spea=
k with prospects=2C not after=2C and if they want to work with you=2C thei=
r budget needs to be adapted (not your fees). This might mean we=E2=80=99r=
e not a good fit for everyone (because we=E2=80=99re not)=2C but it does m=
ean we get paid our desired rate for our time and expertise.

Another common belief is that to be a successful Virtual Assistant=2C you=
 must choose a niche.

When I started my VA business in 2010=2C I chose a niche because I thought=
 it was essential to success. I decided I would work with start-ups=E2=80=
=94it sounded cool and exciting. However=2C I quickly realized I didn=E2=
=80=99t know anyone starting a business=2C so I spent my time looking for=
 people in my niche instead of working with established entrepreneurs who=
 wanted to hire a VA.

Once I dropped the niche=2C work started flowing in=2C and I stopped feeli=
ng like a failure because I didn't know how to target start-ups (which=2C=
 I later found out=2C don=E2=80=99t always have the budget for a VA anyway=
).

A third common belief is that to find clients=2C you=E2=80=99ll need to co=
ld call=2C spend all your time on social media=2C and sell your services t=
o strangers. All I can say is thank goodness this isn=E2=80=99t true becau=
se if it were=2C I would have a job right now instead of being a successfu=
l Virtual Assistant.

Your best clients will come from referrals. There are many ways to generat=
e those relationships=2C but none involve sales=2C spam=2C or hunting peop=
le down.

Take time to examine what beliefs you hold that might be holding you back.=
 Are they based on outdated assumptions or fear? Or are they empowering=2C=
 helping you move forward with confidence and clarity?

Remember=2C you have the power to rewrite the script. If a belief isn=E2=
=80=99t helping you grow=2C it=E2=80=99s time to release it.

 world works. These beliefs start as thoughts we decide to incorporate int=
o our daily lives as facts.<br>
<br>
<strong>Some of our beliefs were created as children=2C others we adopted=
 as adults.</strong><br>
<br>
I think of them as keys or legends on the roadmap of life because beliefs=
 make navigating life feel safer and more predictable.<br>
<br>
But beliefs can work against us as well. A belief that was helpful in a di=
fferent season of our lives might prevent us from being successful Virtual=
 Assistants now.<br>
<br>
<strong>Here are a few examples:</strong><br>
<br>
Some Virtual Assistants believe the amount they can charge for their work=
 depends on the client's budget. That belief seems logical if you=E2=80=99=
ve been around industries where negotiation is a normal part of client rel=
ationships.<br>
<br>
<strong>However=2C as a Virtual Assistant=2C how much the client can affor=
d doesn=E2=80=99t affect what we charge.</strong> We decide our hourly rat=
e before we speak with prospects=2C not after=2C and if they want to work=
 with you=2C their budget needs to be adapted (not your fees). This might=
 mean we=E2=80=99re not a good fit for everyone (because we=E2=80=99re not=
)=2C but it does mean we get paid our desired rate for our time and expert=
ise.<br>
<br>
Another common belief is that to be a successful Virtual Assistant=2C you=
 must choose a niche.<br>
<br>
When I started my VA business in 2010=2C I chose a niche because I thought=
 it was essential to success. I decided I would work with start-ups=E2=80=
=94it sounded cool and exciting. However=2C I quickly realized I didn=E2=
=80=99t know anyone starting a business=2C so I spent my time looking for=
 people in my niche instead of working with established entrepreneurs who=
 wanted to hire a VA.<br>
<br>
<strong>Once I dropped the niche=2C work started flowing in=2C and I stopp=
ed feeling like a failure because I didn't know how to target start-ups (w=
hich=2C I later found out=2C don=E2=80=99t always have the budget for a VA=
 anyway).</strong><br>
<br>
A third common belief is that to find clients=2C you=E2=80=99ll need to co=
ld call=2C spend all your time on social media=2C and sell your services t=
o strangers. All I can say is thank goodness this isn=E2=80=99t true becau=
se if it were=2C I would have a job right now instead of being a successfu=
l Virtual Assistant.<br>
<br>
<strong>Your best clients will come from referrals. There are many ways to=
 generate those relationships=2C but none involve sales=2C spam=2C or hunt=
ing people down.</strong><br>
<br>
Take time to examine what beliefs you hold that might be holding you back.=
 Are they based on outdated assumptions or fear? Or are they empowering=2C=
 helping you move forward with confidence and clarity?<br>
<br>
Remember=2C you have the power to rewrite the script. If a belief isn=E2=
=80=99t helping you grow=2C it=E2=80=99s time to release it.<br>
