Many of my friends are starting to talk about retirement. Since I=E2=80=99=
m 63=2C that makes sense.

But I find it interesting that many of them can=E2=80=99t wait to stop wor=
king. When they talk to me about it=2C I sense they=E2=80=99ve been lookin=
g forward to this next phase of life for a long time.

Retirement is not something I think about or long for=2C so I started wond=
ering why my friends have such different relationships with their careers.=
 And that=E2=80=99s when it dawned on me that the friends talking about re=
tirement have jobs.

When I listened to them more closely=2C I realized what they look forward=
 to in retirement is control of their days and how they spend their time.=
 Lucky me=2C as a Virtual Assistant=2C I don=E2=80=99t have to wait until=
 retirement to fill my days with activities I choose and enjoy; I get to d=
o that every day of the week.

If you=E2=80=99re thinking about diving into being a Virtual Assistant or=
 ready to take your VA Career to the next level=2C here are some tips to s=
peed up your success:
1. Jump in with both feet. Many new Virtual Assistants start by dabbling.=
 That=E2=80=99s ok for a short period=2C but sustained dabbling causes bur=
nout and disappointment. It feels like starting=2C stopping=2C starting=2C=
 stopping instead of reaping the benefits of business ownership=2C like ma=
king good money and feeling satisfied when working steadily with clients.
It doesn=E2=80=99t matter if you want to be a part-time or a full-time VA;=
 dabbling is all about mindset=2C not time investment.

2. Ask good questions. Questions are a powerful tool in life for getting t=
he answers that will help you ask questions that will lead you down the ri=
ght path. For example:
=E2=80=9CHow will I make this work?=E2=80=9D vs. =E2=80=9CCan I make this=
 work?=E2=80=9D
The first question gets you into action. The second keeps you stuck.

3. Be careful who you confide in. While I want you to tell everyone about=
 your new Virtual Assistant business=2C I don=E2=80=99t want you to seek t=
heir approval.
When I started my VA business in 2010=2C my friends and family thought it=
 was a terrible idea. They believed I couldn=E2=80=99t replace my corporat=
e salary and have the time flexibility I wanted. They were wrong. Listen t=
o someone with the success you want=2C not opinion-filled=2C well-meaning=
=2C Monday-morning quarterbacks.

I thank my lucky stars for choosing this path in 2010. I love being a Virt=
ual Assistant.

And the best part? I didn=E2=80=99t have to wait until =E2=80=9Cretirement=
=E2=80=9D to enjoy my life. I=E2=80=99m living it fully right now. Each da=
y=2C I wake up with the freedom to design my schedule=2C choose the client=
s I work with=2C and focus on projects that light me up.

It=E2=80=99s the kind of life many of my friends dream of having =E2=80=9C=
someday=E2=80=9D =E2=80=94 but it=E2=80=99s available to you right now as=
 a Virtual Assistant.

So=2C why wait? If you=E2=80=99re ready to take control of your time=2C ca=
reer=2C and future=2C becoming a VA could be the answer. Because the life=
 you want isn=E2=80=99t something you have to retire to =E2=80=93 it=E2=80=
=99s something you can create right now.
