As a Virtual Assistant=2C your email list is the most valuable asset in yo=
ur business. More valuable than your computer=2C your office furniture=2C=
 and even your software=2C no matter how much you invested.

But most VAs =E2=80=93 even most business owners - don=E2=80=99t take thei=
r email list seriously=2C even though they=E2=80=99ve likely heard that th=
ey should. They=E2=80=99re under the impression that social media is the w=
ay to spread the word about their business and that no one looks at email=
 much anymore. They think that they can run their business in DMs and text=
 messages. But you can=E2=80=99t.

Serious and successful entrepreneurs (read: potential clients) use compute=
rs. They read their emails and do not rely on the social media flavor of t=
he month to generate revenue. They leverage their relationships and stay t=
op of mind with the people they know.

The best way to do all this? It=E2=80=99s via your email list.

So why is the email list for most VAs overlooked? It seems like it would b=
e so simple to gather the email addresses of your friends=2C family=2C and=
 colleagues and send out an email once or twice a month=2C right?

It is. But here=E2=80=99s what gets in the way:
1. Lack of consistency. Growing an email list happens one email address at=
 a time. And it=E2=80=99s something that you need to think about every day=
=2E Creating a lead magnet and offering it on your website isn=E2=80=99t goi=
ng to do the trick. You need to reach out to the people you know and ask t=
hem if you can add them to your list. And as you network and meet new peop=
le=2C ask them as well. This is a daily exercise.

2. Not wanting to =E2=80=9Cbother=E2=80=9D anyone. My answer to that is=2C=
 then=2C don=E2=80=99t. Instead=2C send them valuable information to help=
 them run their businesses better. You=E2=80=99ll become a trusted advisor=
=2C not a nuisance. Keeping in touch doesn=E2=80=99t equate to selling. It=
 doesn=E2=80=99t mean asking for something. It=E2=80=99s relationship buil=
ding.

3. Worrying about what other people think. What if your people think you=
=E2=80=99re amazing? What if they can=E2=80=99t wait to hear from you? Let=
=E2=80=99s shift the context here. My experience is that my readers love m=
y emails=2C look forward to them=2C and can unsubscribe anytime. So=2C let=
=E2=80=99s assume the best and keep going.

4. Thinking you don=E2=80=99t have anything to say. Yes=2C you do. You=E2=
=80=99re just scared. There are a million things to write about. Just thin=
k about all of the questions your clients have for you. If you don=E2=80=
=99t have clients yet=2C think about all the questions you have and explor=
e one topic. We=E2=80=99re only talking about 350 to 400 words.

Email lists are platform agnostic=2C meaning LinkedIn=2C Facebook=2C Insta=
gram=2C TikTok=2C and the rest can change their algorithm or even shut the=
ir doors=2C and you can still reach your people.

Don=E2=80=99t put yourself at the mercy of something beyond your control=
=2C and get going on that email list!

 computers.&nbsp;</strong>They read their emails and do not rely on the so=
cial media flavor of the month to generate revenue. They leverage their re=
lationships and stay top of mind with the people they know.<br>

So why is the email list for most VAs overlooked? It seems like it would b=
e so simple to gather the email addresses of your friends=2C family=2C and=

ext here. My experience is that my readers love my emails=2C look forward=
 to them=2C and can unsubscribe anytime. So=2C let=E2=80=99s assume the be=
st and keep going.<br>

ere are a million things to write about. Just think about all of the quest=
ions your clients have for you. If you don=E2=80=99t have clients yet=2C t=
hink about all the questions&nbsp;<em>you</em>&nbsp;have and explore one t=
opic. We=E2=80=99re only talking about 350 to 400 words.</li>
