One of the most common questions Virtual Assistants ask me is how I attrac=
ted and maintained so many high-paying clients during the 14 years I=E2=80=
=99ve been a VA. It=E2=80=99s not a mystery. The answer is simple. To get=
 high-paying clients=2C you have to charge high hourly rates!

If you charge low hourly rates=2C you=E2=80=99ll get low-paying clients.

While that might sound obvious=2C charging $50=2C $70=2C or $90+ an hour c=
omes with its own challenges. You=E2=80=99ve got to conquer imposter syndr=
ome=2C slay your negative thoughts=2C and ignore your skeptical friends an=
d family who tell you=2C =E2=80=9CYou=E2=80=99ll never be able to charge $=
X an hour for THAT! You should just get a regular job.=E2=80=9D

I faced this challenge when starting my business in 2010. But I was clear=
 that a job wasn=E2=80=99t what I wanted. I wanted time flexibility instea=
d of being tied to set hours. I wanted to decide how much I would earn ins=
tead of waiting for my boss to give me a 2% raise or suddenly lay me off.=
 I wanted to be valued for my contributions and continue to learn new thin=
gs rather than feeling stagnant.

Determined to make this vision a reality=2C I set out to learn how to get=
 high-paying clients and create the business I wanted. Here are some key l=
essons I learned as I grew my successful business:
1. Invest in Yourself=E2=80=94Now. Waiting until you=E2=80=99ve made money=
 or enough money is a mistake. To attract high-paying clients=2C you need=
 to put your best foot forward from the start. This means working with an=
 experienced coach who can guide you and motivate you as you learn best pr=
actices to establish yourself. You=E2=80=99ll need other essentials=2C lik=
e business cards=2C a paid Zoom account=2C and a great headshot to let the=
 world know you=E2=80=99re taking your work seriously.

2. Commit=E2=80=94Don=E2=80=99t Dabble. High-paying clients don=E2=80=99t=
 work with dabblers; they work with serious Virtual Assistants who maintai=
n regular hours=2C promptly respond to emails=2C and consistently meet dea=
dlines. Clients value VAs who approach their challenges with a positive=2C=
 proactive=2C and professional attitude. By demonstrating dependability an=
d commitment=2C you=E2=80=99ll be seen as a partner=2C not a side hustle h=
elper.

3. Skip Shortcuts=E2=80=94Build Relationships. Running a business is a mar=
athon=2C not a sprint. There is no overnight success. Consistently spreadi=
ng the word about your services and building your reputation will take tim=
e=2C but it pays off. Focus on developing meaningful relationships with ot=
her entrepreneurs. Be generous=2C helpful=2C and authentic. This will expa=
nd your network and enhance your life in unexpected ways.

High-paying clients can afford your rates because they are playing at thei=
r A-game level. If you want to work with them=2C you=E2=80=99ll need to br=
ing your A-game level=2C too.

By investing in yourself=2C building your network=2C and committing to you=
r success=2C you=E2=80=99ll be ready to work with the high-paying clients=
 you=E2=80=99ve been looking for.
