Hey!

The world is obsessed with beginnings and endings. Think about
it. We always only celebrate the beginning of something or the
ending of something.

Two people are getting married and starting a life together!
Hooray!!! =F0=9F=8E=89

Someone graduated! Yay!!!! =F0=9F=91=8F

Even birthdays are a celebration of the ending of one year of
life and a beginning of another.

We never really celebrate the middle of anything. AND YET,most of
life is in that middle phase. There are so many things that don't
even have a finish line.

Building a business is one of those things.

There's never a point that you come to where you feel like,
"Okay, I've done it. I'm finished. I am the winner of business!"

There's always another mountain to climb. Always another
emergency to handle.

Even when you do hit those big milestones, the sense of
accomplishment only last so long before you start asking, "Okay
what's next."

And, yet, despite all that, most of the people that I talk to
have one thing in mind, "How do I get from point A to point B in
as few steps as possible."

And, I get it. I hate the messy in between. BUT, if you're going
to win in business you've gotta realize what kind of game you're
playing.

It's what Simon Sinek calls The Infinite Game. (

He says, "Infinite games have no finish line and the goal is to
keep the game going as long as possible."

Think about what that means.

If we're in a race that has no finish line and the goal is just
to keep going, it doesn't matter if we fall short of our own
expectations. It doesn't matter if other people are doing way
better than us even though they haven't been in business for as
long.

After all, we're not trying to beat them because THERE IS NO
WINNING. That's not the thing we signed up for.

Life and business are much more complex.

So, how do you do it? How do you keep going when there's no end
in site? How do you trudge through when all you'll ever
experience is that space between the thrill of the launch and the
satisfaction of the completion?

It all comes down to the reason you're doing it.
------------------------------------------------

It's all about the cause behind your efforts. In other words,
like Simon Sinek has also said before, it's all about your why.

If the cause you have for building your business is worthy then
not much can stop you. Will you stumble some times? Sure. Will
you want to quit? Absolutely.

But, you'll find the will to keep going against and despite all
odds if what you're doing is tied to a bigger reason.

So, during the seasons that things don't quite work out like you
hope or you fall short of were you wish you would be remember
this: there is no finish line. The goal is just to keep going.

Keep showing up.

Keep doing the things today that will be like seeds planted for
better outcomes tomorrow.

What I Learned From Triathlons
------------------------------

I actually started signing up for triathlons and races recently
because I genuinely need to feel like something in my life has an
endpoint =F0=9F=98=82

But, as I've been in more and more races I realized that the
amount of people in your age bracket gets thinner and thinner the
older you are.

I'm certainly not the fastest in my group at the age I'm at right
now. But, if I stick with it, eventually I might be the only one
running the race at 85 years old at which point I will be the
fastest =F0=9F=98=89

Wherever you are, keep going, my friend. Get comfortable with
that middle phase and dig deep into the reason why you started
doing what you are in the first place.

So, here's to you not giving up.

Here's to the fact that running a good race means you just kept
running.

And winning means you just didn't quit.
