You=E2=80=99ve probably heard the saying: We all have the same 24 hours. A=
nd while that=E2=80=99s true=2C what varies greatly is how we think about=
 time and choose to use our own 24 hours.

It=E2=80=99s easy to let hours=2C days=2C and weeks go by and wonder where=
 the time went. We=E2=80=99ve all done this=2C and I don=E2=80=99t know ab=
out you=2C but I feel unsatisfied when I let this happen. I prefer to feel=
 accomplished and relaxed.

I've also had the experience of feeling victimized by time =E2=80=93 like=
 there=E2=80=99s not enough=2C and it=E2=80=99s out of my control.

But as I get older=2C how I think about time has shifted from something th=
at passes or occurs or that there=E2=80=99s never enough of it to somethin=
g I can use to create experiences=2C do good work=2C learn new things=2C a=
nd enjoy myself. This shift in thinking has led to a whole new outlook tha=
t has helped me craft my life in specific ways.

If you=2C too=2C want to design your life so you can meet your goals and h=
ave experiences you enjoy=2C you=E2=80=99ll need to be intentional about h=
ow you use your time. You=E2=80=99ll also need to factor in your prioritie=
s.

Here are three places to start:
1. Evaluate your chores. If you=E2=80=99re getting up in the morning and n=
ot using your most productive time for what=E2=80=99s most important =E2=
=80=94 and instead doing what you think you should be doing=2C like making=
 the bed or doing the dishes or folding the laundry =E2=80=94  it=E2=80=99=
s time to actively look for tasks that can be eliminated or tightened up.
For example=2C are you wasting time going to the grocery store multiple ti=
mes a week instead of once? Or spending time ironing cloth napkins instead=
 of replacing them with an iron-free type? Small things add up. Do what=E2=
=80=99s most important in your life first and do the rest later.

2. Examine your habits. Look at the times when you get up and go to bed. C=
an you make an adjustment that would work in your favor?
Review your systems for storing your belongings. Are you wasting precious=
 time daily by looking for your keys or phone? Are you mind-numbingly scro=
lling on your phone for 30 minutes at lunchtime? Where can you give yourse=
lf the feeling of adding time to your day?

3. Watch your language. If you=E2=80=99re constantly telling yourself or c=
omplaining out loud that you don=E2=80=99t have enough time=2C you are con=
tributing to the problem. Mindset plays a huge role in how we experience t=
he time we have. So=2C instead of noticing the time you don=E2=80=99t have=
=2C start celebrating the time you=E2=80=99ve spent in ways that bring you=
 joy or get you closer to a goal. Acknowledge your wins out loud by tellin=
g a friend or family member. It might seem silly=2C but you=E2=80=99ll be=
 reinforcing your new beliefs.

Family and friends have scolded me over the years=2C thinking that my hous=
e should be more organized or my laundry shouldn=E2=80=99t pile up. Those=
 comments used to get in my way.

But now I know I=E2=80=99d rather go for a bike ride with my husband than=
 have a perfect house; I=E2=80=99d rather have a successful business than=
 a job. I=E2=80=99m sure there are things you=E2=80=99d rather have too. =
 Changing how you approach time is not easy=2C but it is worth the effort.
