You're mostly focused on client work when you=E2=80=99re a Virtual Assista=
nt. But it=E2=80=99s important to move forward with your business goals as=
 well=2C which is not always easy to do.

I=E2=80=99ve discovered that if I track my progress every week=2C I can ge=
t my client work done and achieve my own goals.

Here=E2=80=99s how to make it happen:
1. Figure out what=E2=80=99s important. If you have a business goal of =E2=
=80=9CGrowing my client base by 50 percent=2C=E2=80=9D you might break tha=
t down into =E2=80=9Cpublish my newsletter monthly=2C=E2=80=9D =E2=80=9Cha=
ve lunch once a week with someone in my network=2C=E2=80=9D and =E2=80=9Cs=
chedule one public speaking event per quarter.=E2=80=9D
By breaking the big goals into measurable chunks=2C you can manage your pr=
ogress over time.

2. Create a tracking system you can live with. I like Excel=2C and so it=
=E2=80=99s easy (and fun) for me to create a spreadsheet with one tab for=
 each goal I=E2=80=99m tracking. I keep the spreadsheet open at all times=
=2C which allows me to quickly glance at any tab and see how I=E2=80=99m d=
oing as the year unfolds.
But maybe you hate Excel=2C or find it too complicated. That=E2=80=99s fin=
e=2C as long as you develop some kind of consistent system for tracking. I=
t can be a whiteboard in your office=2C a list on your desk=2C or anything=
 else that you dream up.
Just like choosing a machine to work out on at the gym=2C you won=E2=80=99=
t use it if you don't like it and understand how it works. Create a tracki=
ng system you like=2C and use it.

3. Don=E2=80=99t be too hard on yourself. If you fall off the wagon for a=
 few days=2C don't get caught in the trap of seeing the tracking system as=
 a reminder of it.

The way I look at it=2C every day is a new day. Even if I falter=2C I give=
 myself permission to start again from where I am and move forward. I=E2=
=80=99ve come to realize that the purpose of my system is to track progres=
s=2C not beat myself up about past behavior!

Tracking what you want to accomplish might seem like a lot of work at firs=
t=2C but it works. Thanks to my system=2C my goals are in front of me ever=
y day=2C along with the action steps I need to accomplish them. For me=2C=
 this approach has transformed my goals from chores into fun action items.=
 And I have to admit=2C it feels awesome to take care of my business too.
